Two GPSW Class of 2025 students were recently named Taylor/Blakeslee Fellows by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing. Anika Jane Beamer and Jessica Chomik-Morales were two of the six recently named fellows, all of whom will receive a $6,000 grant to support graduate training in science journalism.
Anika Jane Beamer comes to the GPSW after earning an undergraduate degree in the biological sciences and working as a science writer for Grinnell College in Iowa. At MIT, she plans to cover how manmade changes to the environment and atmosphere are transforming microscopic life.
Jessica Chomik-Morales comes to MIT’s science writing program with an undergraduate degree in neuroscience and experience as a researcher and outreach strategist at MIT’s Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. She hosts and produces Mi Última Neurona, a neuroscience podcast in Spanish, and is dedicated to bridging the gap between a predominantly English-speaking academic world and the Spanish-speaking public.
