The GPSW is adding another alumni work to our shelves. Abby McBride, ’12, is the illustrator of Birdpedia: A Brief Compendium of Avian Lore, a collection of bird facts, birding lore, and bios on pioneering ornithologists. Released by Princeton University Press earlier this summer, the book, authored by Christopher Leahy, covers everything from plumage and migration to birds in art and literature.

“There’s something for everyone in this approachable, compact guide,” Inverse editor Jennifer Walter wrote about Birdpedia. “Whether you’re a new birder or a hardcore enthusiast, be prepared to plunge into a plethora of knowledge about bird species, avian research, and birding culture.”

Abby is a sketch biologist whose work can be found in National Geographic, the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, the Mountainfilm Festival, Living Bird Magazine, and NYC Audubon. After graduating from the GPSW, she spent a year in New Zealand sketching and writing stories about seabirds for National Geographic and the Fulbright Program. Congratulations, Abby!
