Congratulations to GPSW instructor Cynthia Graber; Claudia Geib, ’16; and the Gastropod crew for landing on the James Beard Foundation’s Media Award nominations list this year. Dedicated to honoring media coverage and storytelling around food and drink-related topics, the awards recognize excellence, innovation, and creativity across media formats ranging from books to social media campaigns.

Gastropod, a podcast that examines food through the lens of science and history, was nominated in the Audio Programming category. The podcast is co-hosted by Cynthia Graber, an award-winning journalist who teaches the GPSW’s podcasting unit. Cynthia’s work has been featured in Fast CompanyBBC FutureSlate, the Boston Globe, PRI’s The World, Living on Earth, and many other outlets. Claudia Geib, a GPSW alumna who covers marine, environmental, and conservation science, is the producer on the show.

Media Award winners will be announced on the campus of Columbia College Chicago on Saturday, June 11. Congratulations again, Cynthia and Claudia!
