Giorgia Guglielmi, ’17, recently found herself on the short list for not one, but two awards from the Association of British Science Writers (ABSW). Giorgia was nominated for Newcomer of the Year and for Feature of the Year for “Facing Up to Injustice in Genome Science,” a story published in Nature that chronicles how scientists from under-represented groups are making concerted efforts to work with traditionally unrecognized communities in an effort to expand inclusivity in the genomics field.

The recognition comes on the heels of another accolade Giorgia recently scooped up. Earlier this year, she won the 2020 John Kendrew Award, which recognizes excellence in science and science communication, from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
