Josh Sokol is having one hell of a year. After winning the David N. Schramm Science Journalism Award, which recognizes distinguished writing on high-energy astrophysics, and being named an early-career fellow for the Taylor/Blakeslee Mentored Science Journalism Project, Sokol has also swept up the Arizona State University Fellowship in Transdisciplinary Science.

Now in its second year, the fellowship provides support for one journalist to spend one month embedded in the ASU School of Earth and Space Exploration. Josh will head to ASU campus and participate in related field work, workshops, conferences and offsite meetings, and courses across a broad range of Earth and space sciences. The fellowship comes with $8,000 in financial support. Josh was selected from a pool of magazine and news writers, audio and digital producers, and multimedia journalists. He will head to Arizona in just a few weeks to begin the fellowship. You can check out more of Josh’s work at JoshuaSokol.com.
