Congratulations to Rachel Becker, ’15, for winning a California Journalism Award as part of a team from CalMatters. Alongside Julie Cart and Jeremia Kimelman, Rachel nabbed second place in the In-Depth Reporting category for a three-part series on California droughts. CalMatters dominated this year’s California Journalism Awards, scooping up 17 awards in total, including first place in the General Excellence category. Rachel joined CalMatters as an environment reporter in 2019. She was a science reporter at The Verge prior to that. Her work has also appeared in National Geographic, NOVA Next, Nature Medicine, Nature, Hakai Magazine, Smithsonian, and many more outlets. Congratulations to Rachel and the entire CalMatters team.
